    Applications:

    - Oliol oils are mainly indicated as compressor lubricants and for gear lubricants with combination steel/steel or steel/bronze materials and for lubrication of bearings.
    - Its high lubricating capacity and high thermal stability enables successful use in high temperature chains and drag chains.
    - ISO 100 grade oliol oils are recommended for the lubrication of electric portable hammers (drills / breakers) of Bosch, Hitachi and Hilti brands.
     
    Compressor Lubricants:
     
    Oliol oils have many highly advantageous properties when used as base oils for the lubrication of compressors handling air and other inert gases such as hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, helium and argon:
     
    - Unlike mineral oils and other hydrocarbons, they do not form carbonaceous residue or varnish when decomposed. This guarantees reduced deposits in the compressor and little dirt in the various parts of the compressor.
    - Its polar nature leads to lower solubility of hydrocarbon gases (methane and ethylene, for example), than mineral based oils. This property is specially interesting for most alternative compressors used for hydrocarbons and chemical gases where the gas can enter the gearbox and bearings, since the low solubility of the gas involves a reduction in the viscosity of the lubricant and therefore in the lubrication characteristics which are more consistent. The life of the lubricant is longer, the compressor works more efficiently and suffers less wear, and the consumption of lubricant decreases, so that the efficiency of the process consumption increases.
    - Oliol (Series) oils have excellent natural lubricity characteristics improved with the incorporation of anti-wear and extreme pressure additives, resulting in less wear on the moving parts of the compressor.
    - Its high natural viscosity index guarantees a stable viscosity / temperature behaviour, maintaining the properties of the lubricating film at elevated temperatures. Similarly, this feature reduces the problems arising from the start of the compressor at low temperatures.
    - Oliol oils (Series), unlike other synthetic oils on the market, can be used in various types of compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating, rotary screw, slip ring etc.) and in vacuum pumps.

    Oliol (Series) oils are widely used in the lubrication of high speed (polyethylene) reciprocating compressors, which are used in the manufacture of low density polyethylene, at pressures between 2000 and 3000 bars. The close contact between the lubricant and the polyethylene during polymerisation means that any product used must be accepted toxicologically. Although white oils and mixtures of these oils with polybutenes can be used, compressor manufacturers prefer polyglycols as they have better lubricity, lower lubricant consumption, and lower ethylene solubility.
     
    Gear lubricants:
     
    - As gear lubricants, Oliol oils are specially effective in high temperature applications, high friction applications and closed industrial gears.
    - The intrinsic characteristics of synthetic oils based on polyglycols are markedly improved in OLIOL oils with the addition of specific additives in their formula.
    - The most characteristic application of these oils is the lubrication of heavy duty screw gears, since The efficiency of a worm gearbox is related to the friction between the driving screw and the pinion, so a low coefficient of friction lubricant is required. The high degree of sliding between the contacting parts results in high working temperatures of the gear, so that the lubricant must have a high viscosity index, good thermal stability and oxidation. It must also be able to dissipate heat to the refrigerator or to the outside with ease and, therefore, to possess good thermal conductivity. The use of Oliol oils reduces the contact temperature.
    - Lubricants from modern plastic calendars, feed presses, ball mills, papermaking machines and the finishing sections of textile plants are often subjected to temperatures which exceed 150ºC. At these temperatures, the mineral lubricants would tend to decompose and form carbonaceous residues which result in problems of springiness, lacquers and varnishes. The high decomposition temperature of Oliol oils combined with their higher oxidation stability leads them to be highly suitable for use in these applications, for temperatures in excess of 200°C.
     
    These lubricating oils meet the requirements, among others, and depending on the degree of viscosity, of the following specifications:
     
    DIN 51517 Parte 3 CLP, US STEEL 224, SEB 181226 (ISO 150, 220, 320 y 460), CINCINNATI MILACRON P-77 (ISO 150), P-74 (ISO 220), P-59 (ISO 320), P-35 (ISO 460) & P-34 (ISO 680), and ISO 12925-1 (CKC).
     
    Oliol oils (Series) exceed the specifications of the main manufacturers of compressors and steam turbines, gas and turbochargers such as: Atlas Copco, Compair, Broomwade, CTP, Ingersoll Rand, Siemmens AG, ABB (Asea Brown-Boveri), Man Energie GmbH, etc.
     
    Compatibility with Metals:
     
    At room temperature Oliol (Series) oils are neutral against steel and practically all non-ferrous metals, hence their extensive use in many types of industrial machinery. The incorporation of corrosion and oxidation inhibitors makes them ideal oils for lubrication at high temperatures. It is recommended to verify wear in case of elements constructed of aluminium or its alloys whose surfaces in contact are subject to strong dynamic stresses (slip speed and high loads).
     
    Compatibility with elastomers:
     
    Depending on the time and temperature synthetic polyglycol based oils can attack the elastomers. At constant temperatures up to 100°C, rubber joints of the NBR (acrylonitrile-butalene rubber) or even SBR type may be used. For higher temperatures it is recommended to use sealing materials based on FKM (fluorinated rubber), VMQ (vinylmethylpolysiloxane), SBM and SILICONE (which supports peak temperatures up to 250ºC), among others. VITON joints (black fluoroelastomer that withstands peak temperatures of up to 300°C) are recommended when there is considerable loss of lubricant due to misalignment, since the use of these oils as lubricants can increase the volume of these joints by up to 7.95%, reducing lubricant losses at this point (test method for determination of% volume change based on ASTM D-471 for 166 hours at 70°C +/- 2°C).
     
    Compatibility with Paints and Coatings:
     
    The use of epoxy resin coatings or phenolic epoxy paints is recommended in the parts that will be in contact with the lubricants, given the natural tendency of the polyglycols to soften and sometimes eliminate some paints and coatings. Level displays shall be made of natural glass or polyamide-based materials since other transparent plastic materials such as plexiglass may tend to crack. In case of serial applications, it is recommended to check the compatibility of the materials used in the design and construction of the machinery coming into contact with the selected lubricants.
     
    Compatible with other lubricants.
     
    Oliol (Series) oils are not miscible with mineral oils or synthetic hydrocarbons. Before using Oliol (Series) oil in a circuit containing other lubricants, it is recommended to completely empty the tanks, change filters, purge circuits and clean the bearings, gears and lubrication systems closed with the same type of Oliol (Series) oil than the one that will be used next.
