Olipes is supporting Club Ciclista Betanzos at the start of its 2026 season, officially presented on March 13 at the Xulio Cuns Cultural Centre. The event brought together institutional representatives, sponsors, families and cycling enthusiasts from the region, highlighting the club’s trajectory, its commitment to grassroots development and the growth of its sporting structure.

The presentation was attended by the Mayor of Betanzos, María Barral; the Councillor for Sports, Ricardo Cheda; and the President of the Galician Cycling Federation, Juan Carlos Muñiz, along with members of the municipal corporation, former club presidents and a large audience, according to information provided by the organisers.

One of the most notable moments of the event was the tribute to José García Varela, “Ventosa”, a key figure in local cycling and one of the driving forces behind the club since 1980. In recognition of his career and contribution to the development of cycling in Betanzos, the club has been renamed Club Ciclista Betanzos Escuela de Ciclismo José García Varela “Ventosa”, a change also publicly announced by the organisation.

The event also included recognition of sponsors, the presentation of the young riders from the cycling school and the introduction of the women’s team CCB-BECANI, which will compete this season in an eight-race calendar within the Spanish Cup. The club’s sporting structure thus maintains a dual approach: promoting grassroots cycling while supporting the national-level competitive development of its women’s team. The participation of CCB-BECANI is also reflected in the official RFEC competition records.

Within this calendar, Betanzos will once again play a leading role on April 11 with the Comarca Brigantina Camiño de Santiago race, part of the Women’s Spanish Cup. According to the organisers, the event is expected to gather more than 400 riders from over 30 clubs and cycling schools across Spain. The event has already been publicly announced by the club’s network.

For Olipes, supporting initiatives like this reflects a way of understanding sponsorship based on effort, consistency, training and local roots. Club Ciclista Betanzos embodies this combination of tradition, youth development and future projection, making sport a driver of community and development.

Through its support of the club’s 2026 season, Olipes strengthens its commitment to projects that promote grassroots sport, foster young talent and enhance the visibility of women’s cycling at national level.
