The last event in the Asturias autocross championship worth points was held at the Los Cucharales circuit last Sunday, October 27, organised by the Asturian Automobile Federation and the town councils of Valencia de Don Juan and Villabraz, and enjoyed the presence of members of the Spanish Federation acting as race officials.

On a beautiful sunny autumn day, over 60 drivers and their teams from different regions of Spain (Galicia, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Castille and Leon, Madrid and Extremadura) took part in the event, as well as a large crowd that began filling the circuit facilities first thing in the morning, eager to savour the thrill of the races.
Several drivers from the Asturian motor-racing team ARJ Motorsport, the Auto Recambios Juan Motor team backed by Olipes, were in the race, namely Pablo Fernández, José Luis Pirés, Rubén García ... but the driver that really stood out was Juan Ramón Suárez, who had an inspired morning.

First, in Division III, Suarez stood at the top of the podium ahead of Pablo Fernández, in a tight race settled by a difference of less than 3/10 of a second. This win saw him crowned runner-up in the 2019 Asturias Championship, despite missing two races.
But the day didn´t end there for the Asturian. Suarez finished in second place in Division II, despite overturning his Citroen Saxo on one of the laps. A pure demonstration of competitive spirit and a love of this four-wheeled sport.

The crowd also witnessed the performance of two promising young talents in this sport, Nel Álvarez Lana and Nacho Tuñón, who raced their non-competition vehicles to demonstrate both the technical and sporting potential of these new single-seaters.
