PortuguêsLast weekend, the fourteenth edition of the Castrillón Duathlon - Memorial Aquilino Menéndez took place, a high-level competition that brought together close to 400 athletes in an exciting qualifying race for the Asturias Sprint Duathlon Championship.
The event, organised by the Castrillón Triathlon Club and the Principality of Asturias Triathlon Federation, featured an exciting 10-kilometre race that ran through the town centre of Piedras Blancas, along the La Plata Road, the AS-320, Avilés-Piedras Blancas; and along the CT-2, between Piedras Blancas and Cruz de Illas. The runners demonstrated their best physical and mental form, displaying a true exhibition of strength and perseverance.
Moreover, the company HYDRANORT, distributor of OLIPES products in the Principality of Asturias, joined the celebration by offering a unique experience to the participating runners. The company raffled three weekend stays at the Hotel Posada del Cotero, a beautiful old mansion from the 18th century, located in one of the most beautiful places in Cantabria, between the Picos de Europa mountain range and at the foot of the Western coast. The village of Helgueras offers a quiet place surrounded by nature, but with the possibility to enjoy active tourism.
The lucky winners of the stays were Alfredo Vargas López (bib number 113), Beatriz Tenreiro Álvarez (bib number 1) and Lorena Fanjul (bib number 27), who will be able to enjoy a well-deserved rest after their hard work in the competition.
