The Cooperative Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza de Onda was formed in 1920 in Castellón, when the local farmers’ union encouraged the creation of the Agricultural Trade Union (Sindicato Agrícola), marking the beginning of the current Cooperative. Years later, and motivated by the need for economic resources to be professionally managed, the Cooperative’s credit division was created, which later lead to the birth of the Caja Rural de Onda (The Agricultural Credit Bank of Onda).

To celebrate this centenary, an extensive programme of commemorative activities has been planned throughout the month, which cumulated in the organisation’s Feria de Proveedores (a Suppliers’ trade show) during last 7th and 8th February.

Through Intercoop, a cooperative business group involved in the agro-food sector of the Valencian Community, Olipes was represented at this event by a corner displaying our brand’s products. Oscar Archilés of Intercoop and Francisco García, an Olipes technician, looked after the hundreds of Cooperativa de Onda members who came to their head office, where there was also a series of scheduled mini conferences on agricultural machinery, fertilisers and irrigation systems, among others.

Throughout this 100-year journey, field professionals have seen the development of crops grown on dry land to become crops from irrigated land, from ‘blanket’ irrigation to localised irrigation, from certain varieties of citrus fruits to others. The weather, conditions, environment and even the methods have changed, but the Cooperative’s passion towards field professionals has not. Here at OLIPES, we share this passion as an inherent value of our personality with the professionals who generate wealth for the entire region and society in general.
