API has certified the quality of OLIPES engine oils for more than 25 years.

Without a doubt, the American Petroleum Institute is the international body with the most knowledge, experience, and prestige in the world when it comes to engine lubricants.

API is also the most demanding body when inspecting and revalidating certifications to lubricant manufacturers. This is why not all manufacturers can boast of being API certified for over 25 years, including new lubricants in this certification every year, which exceed the most demanding standards.

API is the benchmark for car manufacturers to edit their own standards, especially in the case of American manufacturers, hence the importance of using lubricants that have its approval, as is the case with OLIPES engine oils.

Linked to API’s standards, quality levels or specifications, there are also the ILSAC (International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee) standards, an organisation created jointly between the AAMA (American Automobile Manufacturers Association) and the JAMA (Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association).

ILSAC has developed supplementary performance specifications for oils intended for petrol engines in light vehicles, associated with fuel consumption, although in practice, ILSAC follows API’s specifications, establishing five levels of quality or categories, increasing in demand, from ILSAC GF-1 to ILSAC GF-5.

API currently only certifies the highest quality engine lubricants, with two main categories: "S" for petrol engines and "C" for diesel engines, both associated with a second letter, or combination of letters, numbers and symbols, which increase in demand following the alphabet in increasing order.

Remember that the life of your vehicle and your safety largely depend on proper maintenance and using quality lubricants.

Always use certified lubricants from prestigious manufacturers, like OLIPES, that have formulated their products in accordance with the requirements established by each car manufacturer and that have been marketed through the official distribution channels, guaranteeing the correct storage, transport and conservation of the products.
