Lubricant manufacturers will guarantee supply during the state of emergency decreed by the Government of Spain

Sigaus, after consulting its legal advisors, has conducted an analysis of how the entry into force of Royal Decree 463/2020, which declares a state of emergency for the management of the health crisis caused by COVID-19, will affect the activities of its member companies and used oil processors.
- Manufacturers and marketers of lubricants. The declaration of the state of emergency does not imply any restriction on the normal activities of manufacturers of industrial oils registered with Sigaus (material manufacturers, importers or intra-community purchasers), except with regard to the retail sale of these products through commercial establishments which are not allowed to open to the public. As such, this prohibition does not affect activities involving the manufacture, import or acquisition of industrial oil in the EU, nor its transportation and distribution of such products in the wholesale market.
- Used oil processors. The declaration of the state of emergency does not affect the collection and transportation of used oils, as the restrictive measures in relation to transport pursuant to Royal Decree 463/2020 refer to the transportation of passengers only. Neither does it imply any change in the operations involving the recovery of the used oils collected.
- Vehicle workshops. Unless expressly specified otherwise, workshops may continue to exercise vehicle maintenance activities, including the change of lubricating oil, as such activity is not part of the restrictions pursuant to the aforementioned Royal Decree 463/2020.
